What’s new: Ghost tours come to Riverside; Tillys opens in Hemet

Riverside Reaper Ghost Tours is open in the city.

The guided tours recount the history and hauntings of Riverside. Customers and their guides will visit locations such as the Mission Inn and Riverside Municipal Auditorium. Guests will hear “tales of ghostly encounters, historical tragedies, and unexplained phenomena.”

“We are excited to bring Riverside’s haunted history to life with Riverside Reaper Ghost Tours,” said Lance Zaal, founder and owner of US Ghost Adventures. “Our tours are designed not just to entertain but to educate, giving tourists and locals alike a deep understanding of the history and the paranormal activity that still lingers in these historic sites.”

Tillys opens store in Hemet

The teen-oriented retailer Tillys opens officially Tuesday, Nov. 12 at Page Plaza in Hemet.

The store, which is open now in “soft mode,” sells a wide variety of apparel, footwear, accessories, and other goods for the younger set.

Big brands names featured at Tillys include Dickies, Nike, Vans, Jansport, The North Face and Converse.

A grand opening celebration will be held from 1-4 pm Saturday, Nov. 16. The first 100 customers will get a free Tillys T-shirt. Other offerings include a customized tote, airbrushed hats and henna tattoos

Irvine-based Tillys operates 247 stores across 33 states.

AutoZone coming to Monrovia Plaza

AutoZone signed a 10-year lease at Monrovia Plaza at 300 W. Huntington Drive in Monrovia.

SharpLine, a commercial real estate brokerage, represented the unidentified landlord. AutoZone was represented by Canaan Pacific Inc.

Monrovia Plaza is anchored by Baja Ranch Supermarket and a dozen other tenants. Sharpline said the auto store’s space is undergoing a renovation, and should open in early 2025.

Highland gas station sells for $9.5 million

A combo gas station, convenience store and car wash just off the 210 freeway in Highland has traded hands for $9.5 million in an all-cash sale, according to Progressive Real Estate Partners.

The Chevron Station, ExtraMile Convenience Store and Express Car Wash at 27981 Greenspot Road included the business and the real estate, the brokerage said.

The property part of the Highlands Crossing shopping center adjacent to the 210 freeway. Nearby merchants include Lowe’s, Esporta Fitness, In N Out Burger, Wingstop and Jersey Mikes.

Progressive Real Estate Partners represented the seller, a San Diego based investor. C-Store Realty represented the buyer, G & M Oil Co., the largest Chevron franchisee in California with more than 200 locations.

The property was completed in 2012 and includes eight gas pumps, a self-service express car wash and the ExtraMile store.

$600,000 will boost mental health services

Inland Behavioral and Health Services is getting a $600,000 federal grant to expand its mental health and substance use treatment services.

The money comes from the US Department of Health and Human Services, part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Unity Agenda for the Nation. It includes $240 million to launch and expand mental health and substance use disorder services in more than 400 community health centers nationwide.

Inland Behavioral and Health Services will use some of the money to hire certified substance use counselors and Peer Support Specialists and training providers to treat opioid use disorders.

The nonprofit was founded in 1978.

Fundraisers & grants

Olive Crest recently was awarded a $225,000 grant from Northgate González Market, which collected donations from its customers. The nonprofit, which serves 5,000 children and families daily in the Western U.S., credited Northgate for its support over 11 years. The money will go toward Olive Crest programs that help prevent child abuse by supporting families in crisis.
