Riverside’s Teensgiving event features food, friendship

More than 60 teenagers enjoyed an early Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 21, at a Riverside community center.

It was the city’s 6th Annual Teensgiving.

Like a traditional holiday meal, the offerings included turkey, mashed potatoes, vegetables and pumpkin pie.

The city’s Parks, and Recreation Community Services Department hosted the dinner at the Youth Opportunity Center inside Bobby Bonds Park in the Eastside neighborhood.

In addition to food and festive decorations, the event included a giveaway from Inland Empire Health Plan, which donated 50 turkeys that were raffled off to teens.

Winners got to take one home to their families.
